Prontosan® products, which are lavasept disinfectants, have proven supportive effects in the treatment of wounds. They condition the wound perfectly, positively influencing the healing process.
Properties:
Usage:
All wounds should be rinsed and cleaned with Prontosan wound care solution so that the easily detectable encrusted wound contaminants are removed before the treatment is implemented with Prontosan Gel and Prontosan Gel X. If necessary, bandages or dressings soaked with Prontosan® solution may be used to clean the wounds. Given the relatively small, limited absorbency, the dressing should be changed at least once a day, preferably several times a day.
Prontosan solution should be used so often that all impurities and necrotic changes can be easily removed. This ensures optimal wound cleansing and creates good conditions for the natural healing process of the wound and facilitates surgical cleansing of the wound, ensuring optimal visibility.
Patients with chronic wounds are often sensitive to temperature changes. Prontosan wound solution can be heated to body temperature just before use.
The solution can be used in case of adhesive bandages or when the dressing is difficult to change: Bandages are often dry and stick to the wound surface. If the dressings are removed dry (due to saving time), a new wound is often created around the existing one, which in turn delays the healing process.
Tissue tolerance and biocompatibility: The product is not cytotoxic, non-irritating, non-sensitizing; painless, does not inhibit the formation of granulation tissue and epidermis, dermatologically harmless. Based on many years of experience associated with clinical use of the product, even in patients with severe chronic wounds, very good tolerance of tissues to polyhexanidine and undecylenamidopropylbetaine has been demonstrated.
What is biofilm?
Biofilm - is a three-dimensional colony of bacteria contained in the matrix of extracellular polymers. It is created by many pathogenic microorganisms in order to increase protection against external factors. Biofilm is involved in the pathogenesis of chronic diseases, especially infections associated with the use of catheters, drains, implant placement. It is a serious problem in nosocomial infections. The complex structure of the biofilm and the different physiological traits of the microorganisms that create it, explain their high resistance to various bactericidal agents, including resistance to antibiotics. The compact structure of the biofilm is very difficult to eliminate. The Prontosan product line was created to remove and prevent the accumulation of microbial matter on the wound surface.
Composition: Prontosan is a sterile aqueous solution containing: 0.1% polyhexanidine and 0.1% undecylenamidopropyl betaine.
